Mehdi Eshragh is an invaluable member of the SSi team. To learn more about Mehdi, we asked a few questions to get to know him more personally, and here is what he had to say:

What does your role at SSi encompass and in what circumstance would someone come to you? 

I specialize in Electrical and Automation at SSi, where I am responsible for all electrical engineering tasks. Additionally, I address technical challenges and enhance our systems by engaging in electrical, programming, and logic development, as well as fixing programming issues as needed. 

What is your favourite local restaurant?  

The Keg Steakhouse 

What is your go-to productivity trick?  

My go-to productivity trick is to break tasks into smaller, manageable chunks and prioritize them based on importance and deadlines. 

What is your most loved place in the world and why?  

My favorite place in the world is my childhood home. It’s where I feel like a kid again and relive happy memories. 

What is one thing (other than your smartphone) that you can’t leave your house without?  

I have a small notebook that helps me stay organized and serves as an extension of my memory. I might be a bit old-fashioned, but it works for me. 

What is the first concert you ever went to?  

One Iranian singer named Mohsen Yeganeh 

What are you reading now?  

I am very interested in using AI in industrial applications so these days I am reading a book named “Applied Machine Learning and AI for Engineers.” 

What is your favourite sport to watch?  

Volleyball 

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?  

As a kid, just like countless others, I was all about dreaming of soaring the skies as a pilot. But, like so many, I didn’t quite land in the cockpit! 

If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?  

If I were to write a book about my life, I’d probably call it “Oops, Wrong Turn: Adventures of a Wandering Soul” because, let’s face it, life’s been a series of unexpected detours with a side of comedic mishaps! 

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit? 

One thing I’m currently working on turning into a habit is regular exercise. 

 What is your hometown and where do you currently live? 

 I grew up in a small city called Shahr-e Babak in Iran, which I really loved. Now, I live in Calgary, Canada, and I’m beginning to love it here too. 

 What do you enjoy most about working at SSi? 

 What I enjoy most about working at SSi is the calm and active environment, the presence of happy people, and the friendly atmosphere among my coworkers.
