Shola A is new to the SSi Team and has been with us for 2 months. We are thrilled to hear from her that she already feels like part of the family. She is passionate about plane tickets, kittens, and making people smile. Her team describes her as very thoughtful, hard-working, tenacious, and says she’s a great team player.
We asked Shola a few questions to get to know her more personally, and here is what she had to say:
What does your role encompass at SSi Artificial Lift?
My role at SSi as Supply Chain Manager is to improve the supply chain and maintain deliveries and inventory to ensure resource requirements are fulfilled. You would come to me with anything related to sourcing and procurement, vendor relations, negotiations, and any issue that might come up – especially delays.
How do you prefer to start your day?
I am a tea person; however, my day will surely start with a cup of coffee and a review of my to-do list.
What is your happy place?
Any nice beach and sunny weather.
Where is your favourite place in the world and why?
Greece. This is where I spent one wonderful year and gained a lifetime of friends. Even though we are in different parts of the world now, we still make time to have interactions whenever possible.
What is the first concert/event you ever went to?
My most memorable event was the Eurovision semi-final in Denmark, to support the Azerbaijani team. There is a video from the event on YouTube that serves as a nice memory.
What is your favourite quote?
“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty–never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense.” – Winston Churchill
Is there a book that has impacted your life?
Yes. The Insulted and Injured by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is a sentimental story about life being full of choices in our hands.
What is your hometown, and where do you currently live?
My hometown is Baku, Azerbaijan, and currently, I live in Calgary, Alberta.
What do you enjoy most about working at SSi?
I enjoy the dynamic environment and culture! The team is very welcoming, diverse, and you will always get support when you need it.
Thanks, Shola! We’re so fortunate that you’ve joined the SSi team.
